Hi there, I’m Em
I was the girl with my 3.2-megapixel point-and-shoot tucked into the back pocket of my jeans everywhere I went. When introduced to my first film camera, you could find me spending countless hours getting lost in the high school darkroom. But it wasn't just the photographs I was developing. My passion for storytelling continued to come alive as I traveled the world. I was photographing incredible experiences traveling across 5 continents- I snapped my way through Europe and collected moments from every coast of the United States. My devotion to fine arts was commemorated with a degree in Art Education from the University of Iowa.
I perfected my craft for years, taking photos for myself, friends, and family. Eight years ago I officially invested in my first truly professional gear and launched Em Grant Photography. I went from traveling the globe to making home my whole world- capturing every moment with my husband, children and animals on our small farm in McHenry, Illinois. I've learned that turning those fleeting intimate moments into permanent ones are what I cherish most.
And it's the same approach I aim to capture with my time behind the lens with you.
You want pictures of the authentic, both the raw moments and the tiny details, because you know life isn't perfect, and the imperfect stuff is what makes it so beautiful. Focused on more authentic, comfortable, and timeless. This is my story and how I learned that those genuine, intimate moments are the ones worth preserving.
